Blogger Mehman Huseynov’s travel ban lifted

Popular anti-corruption video blogger Mehman Huseynov’s has regained his freedom to leave Azerbaijan after his travel ban imposed by the Prosecutor General's Office was lifted, allowing him to leave the country on 12 April.

Arannews-Updating his social media followers from Baku airport, Huseynov said the restrictions on his travels were removed after the issue became public.Huseynov had already tried to leave the country on 9 April but was stopped at the airport and told that his freedom of movement was restricted on orders of the Prosecutor General's Office. The blogger had planned to travel to Berlin and Strasbourg to attend a conference organized by the Council of Europe's Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights. He was also scheduled to participate at a conference on journalists' safety in Vienna, organized by the OSCE representative on freedom of the media.Huseynov was released on 2 March this year after serving a two-year prison sentence for allegedly slandering a police officer in 2017.
